This site discusses phimosis in its specific forms of phimotic ring, frenulum breve, adhesions or skinbridges. During erection these conditions inhibit the relationship between foreskin and glans. This functionally restricts the erection, and thus has an effect on the sexuality. With our culture's attitudes on health care, it would be appropriate to monitor boys before puberty and encourage early prevention.

2012 : note from author: My previous idea of monitoring boys before puberty is impractical, unecessary and now only of historical interest. please see Postscript.

"I'm 24 and from 19 I understood that something wrong was going on with my penis. I could not retract my foreskin even if it was flaccid. Now though, things have changed, because of moving the foreskin forwards and backwards. Now i can retract it with no pain when flaccid and when erect also with no pain. I have tried stretching methods. What i want to ask is if the treatement with steroids is a permanent or a temporary method and for how long?"

I answered: There appears to be no frenulum, the foreskin is attached directly to the glans - stretching only works for phimotic ring, this sort of attachment needs simple surgery to cut the foreskin free.

Without retraction, erection is straight -
when retracted erection points slightly upwards - possibly due to foreskin pulling in behind top of glans
