>Thanks for the advice. I saw the doctor today about it who has prescribed anti-biotics to clear up the infection which he doesn't think will cause any problems. It's amazing how much less sensitive it has become in the last couple of days. The stitches are disolvable and are beginning to dissolve now (7 days after the op). He did say it was a good idea to wash at least twice a day which I was doing but not with soap as it was too sore and sensitive to touch, but it's getting easier now!
Great! Sounds as if it will all be an unregretted thing of the past soon. Songratulations! Best wishes, Bob.>
>>>I had these operations 5 days ago. Around some of the stitches I have been getting a slight white discharge and it is very sore and sensitive. Where there is no discharge the skin is not so sore. Does any one know if this is normal or if I'm getting an infection?
>>You may have a mild infection, but this is common after a procedure like yours and is not cause for much concern as long as it stays mild: in the normal course it will clear up in a few days. It is not at all surprising that you are sore and sensitive after only 5 days. By the way, isn't it normal to take the stitches out after 4 days, or are these stitches the type that disintegrates in time? (I would expect it to take at least 14 days for the wound to heal thoroughly, and a month before the operative site is no longer sensitive at all.) If you are still concerned, ask your physician whether soaking the operated site in warm water and washing it with mild soap will help, but DON'T do this without his/her knowledge and approval! I hope everything's recovering well now. Best wishes, RJK.
