Partial Circumcision next Monday - advice / oblique?

Firstly - congratulations on a great site. Whilst I have found many useful articles in the past I really missed the personal experiences you have related. In my case LSA and the Partial Circ. stories were comforting as I am due for this op. next Monday!

I am 32 years old. I have been on waiting list for 5 months and the consultant has changed since my out-patient visit. I am doing the pre-op check on the same day and hope to see the consultant then. My major concern is to lose as little foreskin as possible. I have preputial scarring so a p'plasty is not possible so I understand that a partial circ. is most suitable.

1. How do I ensure that the doctor cuts off the minimum?
2. What is this oblique partial circ?
3. Any other general advice?

For the benefit of the database here's my story so far. Let me know if this was the wrong place as I will endeavour to give post op updates.

I realised I had phimosis at 20 and the uni doctor recommended a circumcion or simple cut through - this was frightening at the time and I tried my own stretching method - alas, I was not informed on the subject.

During intercourse my foreskin never retracted over the glans and I was quite content. When I didn't use a condom I suffered discomfort due to Frenelum breve. I made sporadic visits to doctors about the condition but never got anything done. The main reason for this was that I was concerned about the impact an exposed glans would have on intercourse (better the devil you know)and didn't want to change something I was happy with - have mostly used condoms.

At about 27 I noticed a small white spot on the middle right of my glans but didn't get it seen to until recently when it had enlarged close enough to my urethral opening to make me really start worrying. Also I have now developed significant white scarring which rips more and more frequently and swells slightly. Sex is still great but it hurts at the start of arousal.
Moral of the story - get it sorted early on.

Anyway I visited the outpatient clinic 5 months ago and the partial circ. was agreed. Whilst the doctor said I had balinitis he didn't say anything about the white spot and mentioned he may have to take a probe. Reading your site it seems to me that this is a case of LSA. A probe into my glans sounds painful. I will have a different consultant on Monday anyway.

One last thing: my experience in Germany, where I live for 7 years, may interest you. Its dead easy to visit a Urologist there. There are loads of them in the phone book - you just ring up and make an appointment. I saw two whilst in Germany and bottled it both times for the reasons above. At the consultancy one of them gave me a contract to sign in advance of the op.. This included three pictures of an errect penis with full-, partial- circumcision and preputioplasty showing the amount of skin left. The doctor marks on the contract the one which applies.

Hope this is of interest. Grateful for any replies.

Russ, St Albans.
