Maybe you guys should look for a g.p. who's willing to tackle the job--work out the easiest solution for the problem of phimosis itself instead of producing a surgical monument to himself--doing a simple d.s. instead of a classic, total circ, as many self-respecting urologists insist upon going for. An old US Navy manual for sailors in isolated stations instructs medical aides in making a short dorsal slit to end a problem with phimosis, and ends by saying that the full circumcision can be done later, after the patient has returned to a station with full medical facilities; i.e. the d.s. is only a prep for the full circ., which is to be done as soon as possible. (At the same time this was written, guys at the front in Europe with phimosis were given dorsal slits and returned to duty as soon as possible, and many of them came honme at the end of the war without having the "job finished," through their own (and the Army doctors') choice. Sooo, it's still a matter of luck & what you and the doc can aggree on. Best wishes, RJK.
