As an answer to: Circumcision written by Billy at 26 May 2000 08:31:37:

Of course it's ok to get circumcised at 19 if you have decided that that's for you. It's your body, your life, your penis etc., and it's not up to me or anybody else to tell you it is or isn't ok; it isn't any business of mine, or of any of your friends and neighbors, what you decide to do for yourself. And while we're about it, let's make this point, which I think is important: whether you are, or are not, circumcised is of legitimate concern to at MOST 2 people in the world, namely you and your significant other. If you don't have a significant other at this time, it's your concern alone. Of course there are some consequences or circumcision, but they are not of tremendous importance. The chief one is that the penis stays much cleaner, automatically, than it did before circumcision. This is because a covering foreskin is not there for urine to flow past as it goes outward, or for the accumulation of smegma, the natural sebaceous (greasy, cheesy) lubricant that collects on the glans under the foreskin as it is secreted and may go rancid and smelly if it is not regularly removed. The circumcised penis is very easy to clean without any special conscious effort, every time you shower. Without question once your circumcision has healed the glans will become somewhat less sensitive than when it was closely covered all the time, and many people consider this an advantage. It may delay orgasm, but it certainly doesn't make orgasm any less enjoyable. Certainly it's possible to have great sex after circumcision (I personally know this), although some people debate this point. The appearance of the circumcised penis is changed by the operation too, and if you live where most men are not circ'd they may tend to think you look strange but that's their problem, not yours, since it's your body, your penis etc., and if you're content with your state that's all that matters. [In all parts of the world there are some people with poor manners who think it's ok to make fun of what they perceive as your differences. I was pissed off once when a Brazilian who had invited me to go swimming at his club said "Who cut you? Ho-ho-ho!" in the changing room, before I'd got my clothes off.] In the USA most women are said to prefer the appearance of the circumcised penis and to prefer to have sex with a circ'd man (probably because 90 million American males are circ'd), but this preference doesn't necessarily hold in other parts of the world, such as Scandinavia and Germany. It's probably true now that most women are sophisticated enough to accept you as your are, without getting unduly picky over your plumbing. So, to sum up, if at 19 you want to get circumcised, it's ok and chances are you'll not regret it. There's more freedom than ever before in today's world to do what you wish with your life, including (hopefully non-destructive) bodily modifications such as circumcision, for one.
Good luck! RJK.
Just wanted to know if it's "okay" to get circumcised at 19. Just what are the
consequences, if any?
