You're looking here at a chronic infection. Skin problems don't
necessarily heal fast anyway, though steroid may settle irritation -
at least the itch - in a day or so.

But you really need to exterminate the Candida and (even then, it is
pretty easy to pick up again so you need to) keep it away, so I think
Canesten (or Daktarin, may be better) will be your mainstay even after
the skin is soft, supple and stretchable again.

If however you are using Canesten (Daktarin) alone as prophylaxis,
you will only need the tiniest smear daily, and a tube should last for
yonks.
