As an answer to: Re: circumcision .. To Ian written by ian at 17 Apr 2001 16:51:06:

Hi Ian,
I am a guy of 27 going to be married this month. I am having a minor problem with my penis regarding circumsition and I am so worried about that. Would really appreciate if you could send me a CC to hari_narayan007-hotmail.com apart from the discussion board.
My foreskin was fully covering the penis since 25 years and at the age of 25 I noticed that some dirty bumps under the foreskin and went to a uro. He retracted the skin fully and he removed all the dirt and told me to do circumsition. I was very scared to do that so I started doing sone excercise on my penis so that my foreskin will retract back and I would say it was a bit success. Now the foreskin will come back smooth when erect or without erection(if I pull) and get accumilated behind the glans. If I pull further it again goes back but the frenulum is preventing it from fully going back. I am scared that whether it will affect my family life or not? I don't want to do operation now and enter life with a fully wound penis.
My doubt is is there an operation where I can cut the frenulum alone without cutting the foreskin so that it moves smooth. If something is there like how much time will it take to heal that wound?
I will be really thankful if you could reply to me at the earliest.

Rgds

>>>Hi I had a full cirt about ten days ago.The operation was no problem half an hour and it was over.It did give me a bit of a fright when i first saw it as i am 39 and had been used to a certain way for so long! The gland is still very sensitive even wearing boxers is a bit uncomftable, the stitches are now coming out because they can be uncom also. But realy if you need an op go for it apart from pain for a week or so there normaly is no real probles you will have to wait until you are healed before you have sex this could be a month or so but i hope and think sensitivity should not be a prob by then

>hi jay.thanks for your message re circumcision,I don't know if there is anymore i can tell you that you don't already know, but i will outline my experience of the op etc.Incidently i had to have a circumcision because i had a very tight foreskin/phimosis which would not stretch and caused me to to have infections etc.It is worth considering stretching if that is appropiate to you.
>Ten days ago i went in for the op,the surgeon came in to see me to explain the procedure and to ask if i had any questions etc,he was followed by the anathesist who asked what type of anaesthetic i wanted, either epidural/where you are concious during the op or a general.I went for a general as bieng an anxious person didn't like the idead of bieng awake while they did the deed.I was out for about an hour and the op took about 30mins.When i came around there was no pain (due to the drugs) and very little bleeding. The biggest shock i had the change in appearance, but you get used to it.I did stay in hospital that night as it was already evening by the time i came aroiund and they like to keep an eye on things after any op.
>The next morning the consultant came around and i was dischaged. There was a fair bit of bruising coming out now which didn't look very nice but over the next week that vanished.I was given painm killers to take home but found after a day they were not really needed. As for the pain a discomfort generally, the wound itself wasn't all that bad the stiches can bea bit sore on clothes etc bt you can normally find a comfortable position .Night times were ok but if you get a nocturnal erection this can be very painfull for the first week due to scabs/stiches etc.
>The biggest thing i find to get used to is the sensitivity of the glans,as you come into contact with clothes they are best described as 'very tender' they are getting better but i have been told that it can take up to a couple of weeks before this passes as they have not seen the light of day for so long .The skin on the glans peels over the first couple of weeks and you should have 3 to 4 warm salt baths a day as this will help with the removal of the stitches etc(after about 10 days about half of my stitches have fallen out)
>There is normally no reason for a follow up unless you feel you have a problem. My consultant gave me his home number in case i was worried about anything which can be reassuring.I see that there is a video(follow this site)which gives you more info if you reallly want it.But all i can say is that if decide on a circumcision don't worry about it,yes threr is pain but it soon passes,if you are working i suggest you give yourself a couple of weeks off so you can lounge around the house in your dressing gownn.Good luck.If you have any other questions let me know and i will try to answer them. Regards Ian
