These contain ingredients that probably should not be used on the penis either.

I think you might have to use one of these for a few weeks to get any real idea
of how effective it might be, but if indeed they do not help and the girlfriend
shows negative to swabs specifically looking for thrush and gardnerella, then

My best suggestion at the moment is Zinc and Castor Oil ointment, a very simple
preparation with only two ingredients, used for nappy (diaper) rash on babies.
If the itch is directly after intercourse, perhaps a sponge with warm water and
apply this cream. Girlfriend might do this for you? :-)Before you consider circumcision (and you'd be really done if/ when you found
the itch was still there!), you could try keeping your foreskin back all the time
(can be taped if necessary).
