Frenulum breve at 42 years old!

About 8 weeks ago I developed a tear in my frenulum. I went straight to the doctor who said it would heal in 2 weeks. However, this incident was so shocking I did some reading and was totally dumfounded to discover that I had suffered from frenulum breve all my life.

How could this be? Well, during intercourse I would use a lot of lubrication and if my girl friend was big enough I could succeed in penetration without retracting the foreskin. Otherwise I would use a condom to prevent retraction. On researching the subject I discovered a fact that was for me astonishing, that a normal foreskin can retract painlessly during intercourse. I am still even now filled with disbelief over this!!!

Now get this: I cohabited with a general practitioner for 5 years during which time we probably averaged sex twice per week! How is it possible that she did not recognise the contition?

In fact my own doctor showed very little interest in my condition and I could tell that he did not even want to examine the injury. I can only conclude that there must be some gaps in the training doctors receive in Britain.

It is now about eight weeks since my injury and I am in considerable pain. I returned to tell my doctor this but he declined to examine me and now I am on a long waiting list to see a uroligist.

If I describe my current problem I would be very grateful if anybody could offer a prognosis. I would also be grateful if anybody could recommend a knowledgeable urologist in the south of England.

My problem is that the injury seemed to tear a blood vessel in the frenulum and although the tear has healed the blood vessel has not rejoined. My pain seems to be coming from swelling that has developed in the two veins that surround the opening to the urethra (I forget the name). The two things may not be connected but it seems to me that broken blood vessel in the frenulum is causing a blood flow problem round the opening to the urethra. An extra vein seems to be developing on the glans just to the side of the existing one. The pain takes the form of a burning sensation and the whole situation is very disturbing in the absence of sound medical advice.
