I too suffered with this condition. I got the exact same response from my GP - clueless!
I'm in the UK too and of course if you could convince your GP to refer you, you'll be waiting for months most likely.
I recently had an operation which took ten minutes from beginning to end to remove the frenulum. The stumper? I had to go to a private clinic, but luckily there are surgeries that specialize in it.
