General anesthesia? circ surgery

Hi

Can someone please give me a little info on general anesthesa. I plan to have a cirum operation very soon, the doctors here in U.S all suggest general anesthesia, has anyone tried it here? I would prefer to be knock out but they prefer it be general since it will done in the doc office.
