As an answer to: General anesthesia? circ surgery written by cyberjay at 02 Jun 2001 18:24:17:
I'm not a Doctor but when I was circ'd a couple of months back I had a "local".
As far as I'm aware a "general" is when they put you to sleep to peform a procedure.
Prior to my op, I would have liked to have been put under for the op itself (because I was scared silly), but in retrospect it only took half an hour, whereas if I had a "general" I would've had to stay in (for post-general observation).
