Some pretty freaky videos have been made, with the specific objective of discouraging all circumcisions. Without question circumcision done on a baby without anaesthesia of any kind has got to be painful to the kid, and nowadays paediatricians don't advocate such a procedure. Some years ago research done at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC developed painkillers that are safe for use on babies, so there is no excuse for putting them through pain. As an adult who knows what is going on, your situation is quite difrerent, of course. If you and your doctor decide that circumcision is needed to remedy your problem (and of course you may not decide this), there is no way it will be done without anaesthetic, whether local or general, and therefore you need not expect to a painful, freaky episode. Best wishes, you decide. rjk.
