Going to a doctor for a problem like this is embarrassing. There's no real way around that. However, it's not like they will ask you to get an erection to demonstrate.

From personal experience I had to see a specialist in this field (because my GP didn't really know what he was talking about when it comes to foreskins) and while I felt embarrassed prior to examination, during and afterwards I realized that specialists in this line of work do this all day. Also, unless your homosexual, there's nothing natural about another man feeling your penis so it's going to be freaky, but during the examination it's doesn't even come into the equation as your penis is usually dealt with like a slab of meat (not literally). Also, it only takes a few seconds to identify some of the common foreskin problems.

I had my frenulum removed as it was way too tight to be of any good, and a partial circ, and it makes a whole lot of difference. It's also quite liberating not to have to worry all the time about whether the foreskin is going to split, frenulum tear etc. Also, for me, it's a novelty, I hadn't seen my "helmet" while in an erect state before the circ, and it's *ahem* a lot better!
