Take care

I described my experience with a torn frenulum about a month ago (you can find it under the title "Torn frenulum at 42."

First I would like to thank Paul B. You were absolutely correct Paul, some of the symptoms I described were due to an infection. The end of my penis has stopped glowing like a lump of charcoal since I got that treated. It is always very difficult figuring out what is wrong when two things go wrong at once.

From my experience I would advise caution when dealing with a tight frenulum. I became aware that it was abnormal not to retract the foreskin during intercourse but could not decide if it was a tight foreskin or tight frenulum. I decided to follow the advice elsewhere on this site an try some stretching. The attempt at stretching resulted in the torn frenulum which is still causing me problems. So although I am wiser than I was and now aware that I have a problem, I do rue the day I found this site and decided to try some stretching.

I would advise anybody with a tight frenulum to consult a cosmetic surgeon or urologist. I would most definitely advise against cutting the frenulum yourself as I have heard suggested on other sites.

When I first went to the doctor with my torn frenulum they asked me if I had been trying to pierce it for jewelry ... my god, I almost fell off my seat at the thought of such a mad enterprise. Needless to say I would advise against fooling with the frenulum in any way, the trouble it has caused me.
