I suffer from chronic back pain and have a supply of the pain killer codine. It is very effective but I am reluctant to take it because I find it a little unpleasant and it completely wipes out my sex drive. This may therefore be a good drug to use under these circumstances (excuse the pun).
A GP might be reluctant to prescribe but a nod from a cosultant should make the GP pretty free with the stuff.
