Penis is discolored after circ due to infection

I had a circ on May 30th. I asked my dr today why is the glans very dark and purpleish looking. Will it ever lighten up and look normal. He told me that I had such infection that it may always look like that. He told me that the shaft would smooth out in about 1 year and all I would have is a scare line but the color may be there forever. The color is very purple and dark. Has anyone every had this problem and was my Dr correct. Thanks Gary
