>>I had a circ on May 30th. I asked my dr today why is the glans very dark and purpleish looking.
>You should provide some background on your status prior to your circumcision and whether you had a full circumcision or a partial one. If you had a long foreskin that you rarely or never retracted due to phimosis, then your glans was probably still infantile in the sense that it was extremely sensitive and very much an "internal" skin.
>Your circumcision is now forcing a change in your glans. From seing one person I know who got cut at age 30 , having never retracted his foreskin in his life, his glans first looked very dark and "bizarre". He said that the glans would often shed skin (a bit like after a sun burn.
>But I saw a picture of his a couple of years later and his glans had gotten much lighter in colour.
>I *suspect* that the existing layers of skin on the glans are going through a trauma, but as skin is a constantly renewing organ, newer layers of skin will replace the older ones that shed off and those new layers will grow acclimatised to the new glans environment.
>But that takes patience.
>Also, your inner foreskin which is probably reddish right now, will, over time, become lighter/pinker.

Prior to being circ. I just recently like about one month started trying to pull the skin back but it was so tight that I could not and it hurt badly. The glans were so sensitive that I could not touch them - It was very hard to wash but I made myself do it even though it hurt. I do remember going to the dr in the 3rd grade and him pulling the skin back and putting vaseline on it and told me to do that bue as I got older I quit doing it and developed phomosis. When I had sex with my wife the skin would only come back so far - a couple of times when I was retracing it it came all the way back and really hurt. That is when I decided to visit the uro. Hope this give you some info on my background. I also developed a sore or growth on the end of my penis at the very end and it grew covering the tip - the Dr said that it had to be removed to prevent cancer. He told me that it was infected for so long that it may never gain the color of the average cut penis. I hope he was wrong. I would like to look like everyone else. Thanks Gary
