I've been thinking about frenuloplasty for some time. A few years back, I had a not too tight phimosis which I was able to loosen up by stretching and "progressive" masturbation - it took a long time for me to work out that this was possible, though the stretching itself took only a couple of months.
My foreskin now retracts easily when I'm erect, but it still doesn't pull back as far as it obviously wants to go. At a certain point, the frenulum becomes tight and begins to pull on the glans, bending it downwards. The effect is similar to the "penis during erection" diagram on the Common Delusions page of R. Stuart's excellent website (http://members.tripod.co.uk/origins/common_delusion.html#start). This isn't painful - at worst it's a bit uncomfortable - though I'm certain sex would be better if I could get my foreskin further back - all the way back - without pulling the glans out of line.
I've tried stretching, but this doesn't seem to work. With mild phimosis, masturbating regularly so as to draw the foreskin back as far as possible seems to loosen things up fairly quickly. In my own case, it was almost as if my foreskin had been waiting for this to happen.
Unfortunately, this doesn't seem an efficient way of stretching a frenulum. Frenular skin, or mine at least, is strong enough to overcome penile shaft rigidity. Even with a firm erection, the frenulum wins easily every time, bending the head out of line. Any stretching that occurs does not affect the frenulum. I've tried stretching in various other ways, but no results.
(1) Does anyone know an effective way of stretching a tight frenulum? Actually my problem isn't so much that the frenulum is tight or short, but seems to have more to do with the way in which it is anchored to the glans. Because the glans overhangs the shaft, and because the frenulum is prominently attached to an overhanging place, this allows it enough leverage to pull the glans out of line. If it weren't anchored in this overhanging way, it wouldn't be able to do this.If it were "longer," it wouldn't be able to do this either, although reconsidering the geometry of this tough little piece of skin, I can't really see how one could make it longer.
I'm wondering, in fact, if "frenulum breve" might sometimes be a misleading name for this condition. A name like "frenulum protuborans ancorans" - protuberantly anchored frenulum: the condition being real, the Latin fake - would describe my own situation more accurately. "Frenulum breve," though, is admittedly already enough of a mouthful.
(2) In frenuloplasty, is the frenulum detached from the glans so that it is no longer able to pull on it?[Ok, I think I've just got the answer to this one. R Stuart says: "frenuloplasty does NOT elongate the frenulum, it sews the frenulum into the shaft skin."]
(3) Is there anyone here from the UK who has had a frenuloplasty? Has anyone here performed one? NHS or private? What were the waiting times like? I feel that since in my own case this is not exactly a totally necessary operation, I should probably go private, though on the other hand, the hospitals round here are mostly NHS teaching hospitals and students might find it useful.
(4) Would R. Stuart have any use for before and after photos?
