They want to mutilate me

Hi, I'm 42 and over the past couple of years my forskin has tightened up to the point it cant be retracted even when flaccid and is causing a lot of discomfort.
I contacted my doctor who took a 5 second look and said "circumcision", "will be painful" and "require a day or so in Hospital". I accept that something has to be done but the thought of having a very sensitive part of my body exposed scares the hell out of me.
Reading on the internet there seems to be a couple of alternatives i.e. creams (in my case would need to work miracles I think)and more importantly partial circumcision, the latter I had never heard of before and sounds as though it may be the answer I want to hear, can anybody advise me on where to obtain info and the possibilty of persuading my doctor that this avenue should be explored.
