As an answer to: Post circumcision concerns. written by Nigel at 20 Aug 2001 15:06:50:
It's a shame that the conditions that warrant a circumcision are not taken more seriously by NHS staff. I mean, it's far removed from being a cosmetic procedure merely for vanity. It's also a shame that the treament both pre and post were so poor as well. If anybody considering having a circ should be reading this, I would recommend saving up some money to go private and get it done. Costs vary but you could expect to pay around £200 - £500 (even more - about £1,000, by Bupa). There are plenty of private clinics around the UK that have consultants/specialists that will do these procedures. Not only can you expect to get a good service (i.e. good pre/post/during care) but you can also expect the staff to be far more approachable and knowledgable about what it is you need doing and how to do it (as they've done hundreds of them before).
Oops. It get me a bit wound up to see that people are treated poorly for such a sensitive subject. Anyway, Nigel, I had a partial circ, so my advice may not be entirely accurate for you, but here goes:
My penis was battered, tattered, and bruised looking for about two weeks. During the third week it really started to look better on an almost daily basis. I think it'd be a good idea to keep clean by bathing in salt-water once a day.
Take it easy on the little-man for a while. Perhaps towards the end of the 2nd week, if you are so inclined, you could try introducing him to the pleasure that is mistress palm. Of course, if mistress palm is packing a lubricant of some kind it could be more easy going for the little-man. See how he bares up before introducing him to the more demanding work of tunnel pushing!
Hope this helps.
