I'd certainly be curious to know what he is using. Most of the recommended "condom-compatible" lubricants are actually plant gums. Someone in a post here suggested Aloe Vera as a soother, well I'm not really sure whether it is good or not but I suspect any particular plant product could cause problems with reactions, so as you say, try another and question why it's needed in the first place.

Not that there is anything wrong with masturbating using lube and a retracted foreskin.

Quite frankly, I think a very important sex aid is the bathroom, and a terry towelling face-washer an extremely useful item, either/ both for absorbing spent semen and using some good warm water, a nice wipe-down afterwards.
