Thanks for your personal testimony. Now you can help those who come here with the same situation you had.

One thing I'd change a bit, is that one should try to remedy the situation first without visiting a doctor. The doctor won't usually know as much as you, for one, do.

>Just wanted to say how pleased I am to have found this forum. It's something I've had to try to come to terms with in the past and it's a relief to find other people discussing it.
>To add something constructive from my own experience: I've had a tight foreskin in the past, but thankfully I now seem to have stretched it so that it works 'properly'. When I lost my virginity it was agony, but after a while having regular sex with my (now ex-) girlfriend things improved, though I found that often my foreskin would get 'caught' in a retracted position. This didn't seem to be a physiological problem, but it was frightening at the time.
>I did go to see a urologist who referred me to a consultant andrologist at the local hospital. This was a disaster: it was either circumcision or nothing, he was ignorant of the alternatives (about which I had read up in advance on the internet) and I never pursued the matter medically.
>So my point is this: it is essential to take the matter up with a doctor, but before you do, make sure that you read up so that you can have confidence in what your doctor tells you. If you listen to what he/she says from a position of knowledge, you can judge whether they're up-to-date on the relevant literature (they're busy people!) and whether you trust their judgment if they spontaneously refer you for circumcision.
>Hope that's helpful
