Andrew, I really think you should consider going to see a Doctor, and discuss him referring you to a specialist so you can get a professional opinion and review your otpions with him. You obviously have several concerns, and unfortunately, based on the below picture, I think you are be right to have them.
Also, I would suggest that stretching will most likely not get you the results you are after. Stretching is not as viable an option as some would like to have you believe. In your case I would certainly say that it won't do any good at all and could possibly lead to damage in that region.
