To start with mate, the notion that your foreskin is supposed to pull back behind the knob whenever you get a stiffy is absolute rubbish, most likely invented by medical or other types who are looking for an excuse to circumcise a male - even if they have to invent something bogus. It all depends on the length of your foreskin. If you had a short foreskin, it would have a tendency to retract because there wouldn't be enough skin there to accomodate the increase in length as you become erect. A disadvantage to this for a man with a short foreskin is the fact that as his erection subsides and his foreskin slips back forward to recover the knob, if it's happened whilst he's clothed, it grabs and traps pubic hairs under his foreskin. This is always uncomfortable and often painful, demanding to be put right immediately.

Secondly, the notion that something is wrong with your foreskin because it is tight is the second bit of rubbish. You've already mentioned that you have no problem having a toss and you didn't mention any problems with having a pee, so everything is in order. What you've discovered is that up to this point, you haven't asked the opening on your foreskin to slip back over the knob, so when you tried, it wasn't ready.

The thing to do is to go round to your GP and ask him for a prescription for Betamethasone Ointment or Cream. This will make it easier on your willy to learn its next trick by helping the opening on your foreskin to be able to stretch and allow your knob to uncover. Don't worry about your GP, he's seen foreskins which need to be stretched before and he won't think any the less of you for it.

As for your early experiences, I would suspect that they were caused by people fiddling with your bits when they should have been left alone. Little boy's willies seem to hold a particular fascination for people, as much I suppose, because an adult wouldn't allow this, but a little boy is helpless to protest, everyone knows best for him. Since you know what happens, when you have your own son, you'll be forewarned of what's going on and can protect him.
