As an answer to: Again, here we go..... written by AJ at 23 Nov 2001 00:56:34:
>>This is terribly sad, because quite rightly, people expect their doctors to be right, they need to have faith in them and their ability to help them. I can only say in defence of doctors, that this demonstrates how powerful is the need to self-justify in the face of something one cannot alter. The doctor you went to, and the one that "AJ", the poster above who is so desperately enthusiastic about circumcision, went to, and now "AJ" himself, were all circumcised. They all have a real psychological need to feel that they were circumcised because there was some genuine reason for it, either that it was "cleaner", more fashionable, or that they had phimosis and there was no other way to fix that.
>How many time PaulB do I have to say that I am happy with my circ? Of course there was a geniune reason for it, which I have stated many times.
>I would ask that you please stop saying I have a psychological "need" or to "justify" having a circumcision done. You know fully well this is not the case.
>"Dire warnings". Are you serious? For God's sake you can't just tell someone to jam a 35mm film case down someone's foreskin. That's just plain stupid.
>I get slated a lot by you and your anti-circ pals, and even Spyros (who had a dorsal slit - does that make you puke Jim?), but continue to post regardless of your kooky preaching, but I think that's because it's YOU that are unhappy. Perhaps you (and Jim) could answer the questions I have asked a couple of times (on both occassions you chose not to answer them and Jim gave a BS answer). So, please answer this:
>1) Are you circumcised?
>2) What problems, if any, have you had with your penis/foreskin (assuming you have one)?
>Again, I ask these questions to gauge what your frame of reference is. It seems to me that you are very quick to disect and diagnose my posts, yet you are not at all forth coming in your background and relation to circumcision. Are you as RJK suspected just "an old woman getting her kicks" (or something similar)?
>Spyros once said that it was I that had driven off the "regulars" of this board. However, Spyros, you must have observed during my absence that the "regulars" did not return. I doubt it was me that drove them off, indeed I would presume to say that it was the posse of anti-circ preachers riding in from your Fathermag.com hideout. While I may seem to react strongly to PaulB and Jim's constantly inaccurate facts, made up figures, fear mongering, misinformation etc. about circumcisions, it is only because I am here to help people as opposed to scare them away just because the idea of a simple procedure offends and those who say "get it done if you need it" make them "puke".
AJ The regulars that were driven off wont return, because you did. As for my Dorsal slit, It was done only after almost a year of stretching And 4 doctors. The stretching probably would have worked if it wasnt for the incredibly BAD advise that I had gotten from the first urologist that I saw. I really dont feel like going into great detail right now because im annoyed by your post, but his poor advice on dealing with my phimosis lead to scaring and it is very difficult to stretch a scar. Am I anti-circ? No, i dont think so. Do i belive that we should circ infants? No. Do i think that a circ. is a valid treatment for phimosis? yes, after other methods have been exhausted. Am I a Anti-circ Nazi? I dont think so but in your eyes AJ I guess I am, And to make it worse im one that has had a similar operation. However, I did get to keep all my foreskin.
