As an answer to: This is a fantastic site written by Matt at 03 Dec 2001 03:25:03:

However now I'm in a fairly long term relationship. My phimotic ring and frenulum are small and short (respectively), and I've never had sex before with my penis uncovered. As well I never was able to get the foreskin over my glans during masturbation. As I began to have intercourse on a regular basis with my girlfriend I noticed the foreskin being able to fit over the penis more and more, and last week, i was able to have sex with the penis fully uncovered, but then I noticed a different, sharper pain, which must have been the frenulum stretching. I ignored it like a trooper, but then there was an intense pain, and when I stopped I noticed a lot of blood. I went to the washroom and noticed
>a small tear on the underside of my penis, in the frenulum. Now the next day, it's still slightly painful, but there's no bleeding, and everything seems OK. In fact, my foreskin seems to fit over my glans better than before. I'm planning to get an appointment with a doctor, just to have things checked out professionally, and I just want to know if everyone here thinks surgery is necessary in my case, or can the frenulum be stretched through exercise, and further sex with my very understanding girlfriend?

Hi Matt

Sorry to hear you've hurt yourself. I went through a very similar experience, but without the bleeding.

My advice would be this. Yes, it's true that sex, and especially vigorous sex, will stretch the parts that need to be stretched. But as you've found out, in the heat of the moment things can stretch too far, too fast. It's difficult to restrain oneself from doing damage once one gets going :-)

So, why not carry on using a condom for a while, but do some stretching exercises 'in your own time'. That way it's easier to control how far you stretch your frenulum in particular. In the bath or shower, when the skin is all warm and pliant, retract as far as you can without hurting (I suggest you start doing this once the tear you've made has healed up). Hold the foreskin back for as long as you can. Then after a few weeks (or maybe even less given you've already got the process started) the whole operation will be more flexible.

Hope that helps

Richard
