Well, as I kind of mentioned in my previous post, the best treatment for an infection is to stop doing whatever caused it in the first place!
There are two sorts of infections you can get here. One is a sexually transmitted disease which you catch from someone else (if you don't catch it from someone else, then it isn't a sexually transmitted disease), you cannot give yourself one without contact with someone else (masturbation in this respect, doesn't count as "sex" ;-).
This sort doesn't go away by itself (as you see, if it did, it would have cured itself in the other person before they could give it to you), which is why you would need to see a doctor about it (and even then, there may be no curative treatment for some such as herpes). But apart from understanding that this is why you use must condoms whenever you have sex with anyone else, this need not worry you.
The other sort of infection very rarely occurs "naturally", but is usually caused by some hygiene problem which may include washing with soap, wearing clothes and particularly underwear which keeps the area sweaty, doing something which gets significant amounts of faecal (bowel) material transferred to the penis or - too much sex to the point where the penis and foreskin are traumatised (bruised, grazed, scratched etc.). Diet as Jim notes, could be involved.
In these cases, treating the infection may or may not be helpful, it is more important to figure out what caused the problem and either cease it or prevent it happening again. This does seem likely to be what has happened in your case because it is getting better of its own accord, so can you identify the cause?
