phimosis/frenulum breve advice -- very worried

I was hoping someone could give me some advice about phimosis. I'm 17, and have a relatively tight foreskin. A year or so ago, I could not retract it behind the glans, but after gentle stretching over time I am now able to do so. However, when erect I cannot retract the foreskin much further down the shaft- a tight ring is visible, there is pain and the glans is pulled down. I realise I have a tighter-than-average foreskin and frenulum, but will this prove a problem sexually? Does the foreskin need to retract some way down the shaft?
