ADMIN THREAD (to those concerned)

Written by Robin at 29 Jul 2003 18:24:50:

Hello All,

First, I have mailed RJK and offered him the moderation job on this forum, because I know he is unbiased and open minded in my sense of these words.

Then there are two themes

This forum is overloaded: too many chiefs not enough Indians. and I feel like opening 2 or 3 new forums, because all different forums would have different characters.
I could provide one for AJ one for Ivan one for Ralesk etc, with links out from my pages, and cross connecting links in the forum page headers, it would probably take a few months to take off, but even a Chimp forum could have social and political advantages! And if it proved to be a troll chimp forum then I would advertise it as such on my forum page.

Forums that deal with specific forms of treatment like stretching, would also be valuable … but here, I should probably link up to the existing ones … ??

(I need to go round sometime checking sites and forums which some of you already have)

There are also mailing lists and any new form of internet communication. All I need to keep is the site, and I could link out from there to any number of internet communication projects.

Infact I’ll set up one new forum, whatever happens here.
So, WHO WOULD LIKE TO MODERATE THEIR OWN FORUM?? (or LIST?)

THEME 2
I read all letters in the admin threads, and a number of the others, it took about 4 hours and I realised I dont want to get involved with moderating or even answering – I could well imagine it’ll take another few years till I want to get seriously involved with the subject again. – (However I will spend a bit of time updating my site and adding new links … )

Everyone here seems valuable and has had relevant experiences. So actually there shouldn’t be any arguing.

I’ll keep it short

There seem no pro-circers here.
Ivan, 29/F and Ralesk, seem flexible, maybe unsure? (I don’t want to do individual character studies, eg. 29/F may well be a stretcher, some say he is, whatever, the point is that I identify two groups).

Chimp and AJ seem to be suggesting appropriate cures for different conditions (we will remember this is my perspective and so it is extremely embarrassing that they love a battle)
Then there’s the stretchers: Aussie girl and Jim (who both refer to PaulB who he didnt write) and both seem to be convinced of new evidence that stretching always or almost always works.
You'll forgive my doubt, but I have heard this a number of times in previous years, and I believe you are making exactly the same mistake as the pro-circers: you attempt to find one cure for all the different conditions.
This may make idealogical sense to you. But I’m afraid I see this as a big problem. I’m against any form of “final decision” on treatment, this is “closing the mind” and that our culture closes its mind on this subject is actually the biggest problem. The subject is just far too new and open, almost the entire medical profession is not yet aware of it, and yet you claim you have the answer… !!??
I think it’s wonderful if there are hundreds of ways to cure any problem. Think about any other problem wouldn’t you be happy if there were lots of different ways to solve it.

OK so I’m open to new evidence so Jim I checked your reference

The new study on kids between 5 and 12 is wonderful http://www.cirp.org/library/treatment/phimosis/he-zhou/
this underlines Oster’s study, and my thinking, it shows that when CHILDREN are taught early, then all?? certainly a great number of problems would never occur. But this does not mean that most ADULT problems can be cured in the same way. I'm sorry Jim but I need better evidence than this to prove your point.

I will wait and see if there is any new evidence, maybe there is, but it really would need to be convincing before I accept that the subject is closed

We need clear thinking on this subject: my check point, my central reference point was always how to get medical awareness so that kids are checked (re-Oster) and problems never arise. … Adult treatment is really secondary. Why are you arguing about it?

Thanks to all for being interested and I believe you all are genuinely interested and concerned from different angles, and hope you continue to be.

Robin
