Experience of those who have followed instructions shows that the frenulum usually will respond within about two months. I'd suggest being cautious in your sexual endeavors in order not to tear it again. The use of lube would help, yes. Once you have stretched the tissue to its most useful length, it should not be necessary to be so cautious, but why would you think that sexual activity would be anything but gentle? Regarding the creams and ointments, you don't need them to accomplish your goal. The activity of stretching is what does the trick.
