The soul of conservative treatment is to try the least intrusive and least dangerous therapies first. As for how to get it, I don't really know how to deal with the UK NHS - I have enough trouble dealing with my American health and dental insurance with all their ins and outs. There must be a way you can get referred to another doctor - perhaps ask for a referral to a dermatologist. It's very possible you could get it through some Internet source, but BIG WARNING - prescription drugs are generally not over-the-counter because they can be dangerous if misused. Many of the Internet drug sources are virtually OTC vendors, even if they have a doctor giving a nominal over-the-Net review. I won't recommend that route for that reason, but if you choose to, please read up thoroughly on how to use it (it takes the tiniest of smears at the tightest area - but other than that I can say nothing).
