Well, I'm sure I don't have to talk too much about the frictional properties of your fingers or your girlfriend's vagina, I do hope you can see that your fingers lack lubrication and as the glans is sensitive to rubbing (try it, pup a finger on it and stay there. you might hiss while you get in touch with it and while you pull the finger away, but I'm quite sure you'll find that the finger just being on it isn't that uncomfortable)... you can try artificial lubricants on your finger and the glans and see how that is like.
But anyway, "get out and use it" isn't such a bad idea!
