>I recently had a full circumcision as treatment for phimosis. Before the treatment I had a limited sex life but what little I had I enjoyed it inmensely. Now I feel that I lost a huge part of my penis, I'm still in the process of recuperating, I don't want to sound dramatic but I don't think I'll ever enjoy sex as I used to, I've had major psychological damage from this operation, even more after finding out on the internet that there are alterative treatments for it that preserve the foreskin and all of its sensitivity (things which the 2 doctors I visited never told me). It's been about 40 days since the operation and I still feel like my penis will never be the same (less sensitivity, scars, etc).
>I'm sorry for this rant but I'm very depressed about the whole thing and I was wondering if anyone who's been through something similar could give me some words of encouragement. I really need them.
>Thanks...

First, my sympathies. I know that lots of guys function just fine without their foreskins and are happy with their sex life. Still there is something disconcerting about losing a piece of your body, especially one that you were so completely aware of.

Second, I want to encourage you to seek out a sympathetic lawyer for a possible malpractice suit. Your doctor failed to inform you of a medically sound, non-destructive treatment for your condition. Even if it's not 100%, stretching has an excellent track record, all the mroe so when assisted by betamethasone cream. It's as if you went to a doctor for obesity and he inisisted the only treatment available was stomach-stapling, without even having discussed with you the possibility of a diet and exercise program. Sure diet and exercise do not cure obesity in 100% of the cases (mostly through the failure of the patient to fully stick to the program), but a doctor would be committing malpractice if he did not pursue that as a first option, rather than a dangerous, expensive, invasive surgery. And that is what happened to you - circumcision should have been the LAST resort, not the first. Through that doctor's incompetence you have been deprived both of your foreskin and the satisfaction that comes of solving a problem through your own efforts. I am normally loathe to recommend litigation, but this sort of malpractice permanently injures the victims of the bad advice. Please consider this option.
