AJ-
I know you're happy with your circ., and no one begrudges you that. What "Pat" is talking about is almost identical to what my ex felt after his surgery. Onlike my ex or Pat, you had a Dr. who explained ALL your cutting options, etc. And at least you had the knowledge and the choice to at least try stretching. Those options are now gone. Pat was given only one solution - cutting.
My ex had some crappy scarring, as well as (according to him) about 80% less sensation than before surgery. Pat isn't complaining about stats he read, but about sensation he already misses. No amount of argument or Circ. FAQs will change what he feels.
In my opinion, Pat's post is the EXACT reason, why many US people try to discourage men from asking their Dr. about penile problems that aren't of a serious nature. They are most often given only one option - cutting, which seems to leave much to be desired for a good number of men that have gone through it.
>>even more after finding out on the internet that there are alterative treatments for it that preserve the foreskin and all of its sensitivity (things which the 2 doctors I visited never told me).
>You need to put what you have read on the Internet in perspective. Stretching (the only alternative to surgery) works in some cases, but not all. In regards to sensitivity, don't believe all that you read. A lot of the information on the internet is anti-circ propoganda and should'nt be treated as an absolute. Even in forums such as this. We had one regular contributor that would post as other people proclaiming he had success with stretching or that he was upset about his circumcision, all the while "advising" people how to stretch in his regular guise (and then sometimes answering himself in the same thread as another person!) Thankfully he no longer contributes here, but it should demonstrate that everything you read on the subject is rarely accurate or true.
>>I'm sorry for this rant but I'm very depressed about the whole thing and I was wondering if anyone who's been through something similar could give me some words of encouragement. I really need them.
>>Thanks...
>I'm not sure if it will cheer you up any, but I had a partial circ a couple of years back and am very happy with the results.
>Here's a link to my Circumcision Faq that might answer some other questions you might have.
>All the best.
