The steroid cream, Betamethazone, is not the cure, it's an "aid." The simple fact is that you have to accustom the small opening on your foreskin to stretch over your knob to expose it comfortably. You do this by gently coaxing it to stretch farther and farther open. This is the natural way for it to happen. If you're foreskin tip is a little tighter than usual or you've never tried - consistently - to make it stretch, then you'll have to help it.

You needn't worry about finding a "good" GP. Go to www.cirp.org and do a search for Betamethazone cream or phimosis. Look over the articles and print out the one that best suits you. Take it with you when you visit your GP. If he's ignorant about the cream therapy, then give him the print out to read and educate himself. Then YOU TELL HIM that you want to try this therapy and to give you a prescription for it. It can't hurt to try the cream and it's your penis and YOU run the show.

That said, the Betamethazone will not cure your phimosis, but applied sparingly to the tight spot, it will relax the skin and make it easier for you to stretch and train the tip of your foreskin to stretch enough to slide over the knob.

This isn't rocket science. you can do it if you consistently gently train the foreskin to stretch open sufficiently, the cream will help tremendously.
