Frenulum operation

I went to see my doctor because I have a very tight frenulum. When I'm fully erect, my foreskin covers 3/4 of my glans. And it's very painful to retract beyond that, or have any intercourse. My doctor then said that he would cut the frenulum in 2 and stitch it to the shaft of the penis. He said that this procedure is better than frenuloplasty, because it leaves less scarring, it heals faster and takes less time to perform the operation. I was quite surprise by his comment, because from my readings, frenuloplasty seems like the way to go. I guess my biggest concern was the scarring. I don't want to have 2 flaps of skin hanging out of my penis. Does anyone know if my doctor was right? Any reply would be appreciated.
