It's not necessary. If it will happen, it will, not a big deal. But you shouldn't deliberately try to rip it. If it does, think of the girls' hymen and what happens to it ;)

Side point to my previous reply to you: if you pull forwards, the whole thing is likely to grow in that direction. If you pull it as to try to open it, then it is likely to grow so. With pulling forwards you can aid the growth of the frenulum (albeit it seems to be significantly more tender an issue, and significantly slower a growth).
