To start with, your son, at five, does not need to have his foreskin retracted nor do you need to be fiddling with his bits, anymore than you would be douching your pre-puberty age daughter.

His foreskin will be fine, leave it alone. The majority of boys are not able to retract their foreskins at his age, and thiis the way it's supposed to be. The younger a boy is, the more unusual it is for him to have a retractable foreskin. IF his foreskin remains tight into his mid-teen years, then it would be advisable to give him some betamethazone cream and allow HIM to do some stretching.

Children's foreskins are not supposed to retract and if they have problems, 99% of the time it's because parents or caregivers persist in messing about with their bits.
