Unless it causes him problems, I'd probably wait till he is 10 or 11 before passing final judgement on the fate of his foreskin.

If you are confident that proper education of your son would prevent any re-occurance of paraphimosis, then that would proabbly be the best approach.

If you choose to leave him intact and hope it corrects itself, you will then have to provide good education to your son on the care and feeding of his foreskin. He needs to know that his foreskin needs to retract easily both when soft and when hard. Do NOT, under any circumstance, "threathen" him to be circumcised if he doesn't wash etc. Circumcision must not be made to be a punishement. Explain to him it is a simple cpsmetic procedure to make the penis work better. You can tell him that he can choose to have just the bad part of the foreskin trimmed (partial circumcision) or get the whole thing.

Whenever he urinates, he should be taught to pull the skin back as far as it can naturally go. Same for bathing.

Also, once he starts to get nocturnal erections, this may help widen the foreskin, unless foreskin is very long.
