Hi Ralsek,
The reason I was relieved when the ballooning diminished is because his pediatrician informed me that ballooning could be very dangerous. She indicated that when the urine gets trapped between the glans and the foreskin there is more possibilities for a urine infection. She indicated that a kidney infection in young boys has a 20% likelyhood of causing kidney damage. She also went on to say that sometimes a urine infection in young boys is only noticible by a fever. That really concerned me, that's why I'm relieved that the ballooning has lessened.
>>By the way, ever since I instructed him to retract his foreskin as much as comfortable while urinating, the ballooning has stopped. That's wonderful... thank you verrrry much.
>Ballooning is nothing wrong, I'm nost sure why it would be. First of all, it shows that the normal and natural adhesions present at early childhood between the glans and the foreskin are gone, and that's good. Secondly, it, if anything, flushes out things (smegma for instance) while the foreskin cannot be retracted. It's really nothing wrong.
>That it's gone, simply means NOT that the foreskin's opening had sometime earlier /become smaller/ so as to block the urine's way, but it means that it has become wider from an earlier natural protective diameter.
>It's all normal, you do seem to make it sound like as if ballooning was something ill or pathological, whereas it isn't. Alas many doctors fall in this mistake too, when diagnosing small children and suggest to parents that the foreskin's opening has become too small (it hasn't, it's only the synechiae (the adhesions mentioned earlier) that are gone and allow the foreskin to fill up), and they suggest circumcision to cure a totally normal event (that also, by the very definition, encourages the foreskin to stretch and grow, with the pressure of the urine on the balloon, from inside).
>>While in the tub he also has been pulling the foreskin forward and opening it. My son, is very aware of his condition and he is doing everthing he can to help it stretch.
>Heh, what should I say, the more fun for him! :P
>>Yesterday I took him to his doctor. She actually refered me to a professional Children's urologist - Stanford, Lucille Packard. One of the best Medical Facilities here in the State of CA. They will give me a second opinion.
>>Halfclip, I stopped applying the hormone cream. Coincidently, we were applying the cream when the paraphimosis occurred. So since then, I haven't reapplied the cream. In addition, to the recommedations you have already given me, do you think I should continue cream application?
>I know I wasn't adressed, but I feel should reiterate: the hormone cream helps stetching. It works without it, and that's normal. You can speed it up, it's not necessary though.
