>>I have a restored foreskin. I was hospitalized in ICU and on a ventalator for 15 days. I was given massive doses of morphine and borad speck antiboitics to treat pneumonia. I also had a catheter in place. The catheter prevented the urine from washing under the foreskin. I never skin it back to urinate. When the catheter was removed and I was able to shower for the first time, I skinned my foreskin back to wash the glands and found a sour cream like substance under the hood. I did not have any discharge or ooze. I have produced smegma from time to time but never any thing like this. After washing it away it has never occured again. Any one else experience this or have a clue what it might have been?

I was going to say it couldn;t be semen from a wet dream, since the catheter would have conducted fluids out. But then I believe a catheter is inserted all the way to the bladder (thank goodness I don't know this first hand!), which would be past the point where semen enters the urethra.

It sounds more like a yeast infection to me. It could have cleared up so easily because you had plenty of the healthy basteria in palce - you just needed to rinse any build-up away.

Smegma is possible, but then there's really no reason for the oil and skin cells that make up smegma to build up and slough off any faster there than any of several other areas you were unable to wash during that time. Of course, you probably were given sponge baths by orderlies during that time who washed everywhere but there, leaving out the area around the foreskin because they did not know to retract the foreskin or they were unwilling to retract the foreskin.

I'm glad it turned out to only be a freaky sight for a short period. If you have to have similar care in the future, you might want to make sure a kindly nurse gives you a proper rinse there.
