First of all, it sounds rather unusual that it would "start to tighten". You also mention it was always tight. I'm a bit confused.

You could give a try to stretching. Scar tissue reacts too, but not so fast as normal skin. There are some descriptions on what and how to do, on this page and the previous one in the Archives. Give them a read.
