Maybe they just didn't want to think about it. I suppose, if you were irritated enough, you could ask, "Are you circumcised?"
I find it difficult to imagine how man with a working foreskin could be blasé about circumcision. On the other hand, if he hadn't had difficulties himself, and hadn't thought about it carefully for some other reason, a totally straight guy - no interest in porn etc., no interest in sex except with the wife - might manage not to notice that a working foreskin is a great thing to have.
