Stretching.

Hi there,
I have been trying to stretch the tight ring of my foreskin, however I think I need to be using some kind of cream or lubricant as I seem to be getting rips on the foreskin which seem to make the ring even tighter eventually. I was just wondering if Vaseline pure petroleum jelly will be ok? Anyone had any experience with using this?
