>Thanks, I feel as though I need some good luck at the moment (although a miracle would be preferable)! I know and I keep telling myself just to do something about it and get it seen to, but tbh it's not the urology consultant that I'd be most worried about. It's the initial visit to the GP, at the risk of being misdiagnosed or being given a worst case scenario that scares the hell outta me. And I'm still living at home (not by choice, more to do with the property market at the moment as anyone in the UK can attest to!), which would make visits to hospitals to see consultants, etc, difficult if not impossible to hide from my parents. I'd rather not tell them, it's just the ultimate embarrasment to admit to your parents that your genitalia is defective. If I was going to confide, it would be my mother, but that still scares me nearly as much as the prospect of the GP visit.
>*sigh*
Well you know, I did this. I told my parents I had an infection somewhere down there, and I had to see a urologist. They didn't ask any questions.. It's a personal thing and they should respect it. I didn't even go to a GP, I just went to the urologist and they took me with no referal from a GP. Other clinics would have as well. Ask your local specialist if he can take you without a referal since you *know* you need a urologist.don't be afraid, it's MUCH worse than it really is!
