Thos who would advise you to live with a lifelong problem, have an agenda of their own and it isn't your best interests they are seeking. If you read a post where either your intellect is praised (or someone else's), pause for a moment and move on, as any response should not include editorial comment about someone's 'sanity' for example.

After that, it's nothing. You could have a general or even spinal but there is no need to: it adds risks and is not needed.
