He is right. It is mostly a psychological control issue -it's contolling you ;-) but it it can be fixed through all of the techniques suggested. People have tried xylocaine gel but apart from the fact that it's not effective in intercourse to stop PE (because the glans isn't the main pleasure spot- it's just a gentle bulldozer) and there is always the risk of an allergic reaction you don't want to go there.
