This can happen, and is one of the few risks of keeping retracted. It can be dangerous if you keep it retracted now, because there is a remote chance of you developing paraphimosis. Let the foreskin forward for the time being, until the swelling has gone down. It shouldn't take more than a day or two at most.

Then, just keep it retracted for a shorter period, and then a slightly longer period, and so on. As long as you don't give it too much of a shock, your body will adjust.

Whether you keep it retracted or not is entirely up to you.
