>>6 weeks have passed and it is the day of the follow up appointment with the surgeon for my 10 yr old. My son cried himself to sleep last night in fear of what might happen today. I have been waking all night with dread.
>>After 6 weeks of hydrocortisone 1% the scarring is not much better. It is very white, hard and ridged. My son can still fully retract the foreskin which I find amazing considering.

>>We have been stretching every day for six weeks at bath time.
>>Even if the surgeon says that circ is the only solution I am going to stand my ground and suggest more cream? Is this wise? I do worry about skin thinning? I want to wait and see if his skin will naturally develop and heal.
>>I still also feel instinctively that I should leave him to decide as he gets older what he needs to do.
>>Any thoughts please anyone?
>It seems like the real problem is that you are going to a surgeon for a skin problem. The surgeon's mode is cutting. Your son needs a dermatologist. That's the specialist who has studied how to make skin healthy and keep it that way.

May I suggest that whatever you do, you keep in mind that your son is 10 years old and that you should be careful because he will remember everything in the future and phsycologicaly, it will bother him that he had a male problem and his mommy was involved in it. I have a problem, but would rather go through it alone then have my mother involved. I know he is too young to do anything by himself, but keep in mind that he will remember and that you should let him do as much as he can by himself so that his ego is not bruised.

Just a suggestion.

Jack.
